2000 Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru
Found this at a retailer in TX on closeout for $45 on a business trip.
A touch of bricking throughout. Bright and seemless nose of forest floor, cherries and rose petals. A bit of funk (in the good burgundy way). Smooth and delicate in the mouth with a lot of flavor impact. Pine needles with cherries lead to a medium length finish. A bit heavier in color and taste than I was expecting for a Chambolle. I wonder if this is a characteristic of the vineyard as I have not understood Barthod's wines to be heavy handed? The nose seems to be more advanced.
Seems to be in a good place right now with a nice blend of primary and secondary notes.
Nothing earth shattering here but taking into account the vineyard and vintage, quite a tasty wine. Would definitely buy again.
