  • 2001 Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/8/2009)
Drinking very nicely with pretty fruits including white peach, lemon and green apple. Good balance. I'm sure it will evolve nicely but why wait?
  • 2002 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/6/2009)
A pleasure to drink, almost a simple pleasure because the fruit and balance demand litle attention. But when given, one finds pretty yellow fruits, a touch of strawberry, and some minerality. Not impressive but quite lovely.
  • 2003 Argyle Brut - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (3/6/2009)
OK, not quite as elegant or as fine a bead as a top Champagne, but this is a very high-class sparkling wine with delicious flavor, excellent balance. Drinking well now, but no problem waiting a couple of years.

Thanks for the notes Charles.

Was your Christoffel under cork or synthetic?

I believe it was cork. This was part of the infamous Premier Cru batch, so likely whatever those were.
