Linda Lindsay makes good (wine)

by Bob Henrick » Sat Mar 28, 2009 9:22 am

Linda Lindsay and her husband Art own Stone Wolf winery in McMinnville Oregon where Art grows the grapes and Linda makes the wine. (Linda is a frequenter of the WLDG and occasionally visits us in the chat room on Sundays). As some of you here will already know, I am a big fan of their wines and therefore I am letting the story out that her 2007 pinot gris has recently earned a double gold, and a best in class awards. I know that Linda would never brag here on her good fortune, but there is nothing stopping me from doing so. So that all understand, I am not in anyway connected with the winery other than being a fan of the wines and a friend as well.

But, first a little bit of background, Linda hand bottled, labeled, and hand carried a bottle of her '07 pinot gris to Mo'Cool in August last year and presented it to me. Upon tasting the wine I declared it to be the best damn American made pg I had ever had, and very Alsatian in flavors and aromas as well as having a medium to full bodied texture that is rarely seen outside of Alsace, or Italy. This seemed to please Linda at the time, so I can only assume that she is even more pleased now with having won such prestigious awards.

Anyone wishing to to check out the competition that she was up against at the 2009 National Women's Wine Competition held in Santa Rosa, California on March 9 and 10, 2009 can do so by clicking the link below. In celebration of the awards, she has decided to hold a sale, offering 40% off, so now is a good time to try it,if you haven't already. competition link: http://www.nwwc.info/pdf/NWWC09_WWL.pdf

Kudos to Linda!! I have been buying her pinot gris for years and it never disappoints. It was great meeting Linda at last year's MoCool, look forward to seeing her this year!

Congratulations, Linda!

Great stuff. Thanks for the story. I have yet to try the wines but it is on my short list. Hope to make it by there on my next trip.

Jason, I just wish I lived close enough to make trips to the Oregon and Cali wine country. In fact since I am retired I could do it monthly or more often. I have always claimed it would take at least a month to do it right.
