WTN: 2006 Felipe Rutini Malbec

by Brian K Miller » Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:02 pm

Their basic Mendoza wine...I think $15 at the funky little wine shop in downtown Alameda.

Blueberry, earth, licorice, and savoryness. No alcoholic burn or bothersome oak vanilla. Very light/medium bodied in texture and mouthfeel. Quite a nice little quaffer 86 points.

I should also note that there was a nice chalky???? minerality that provided a nice floor to the fruit! :P

If it's available in your area, let me know what you think of the cabernet/malbec blend, which costs less than the straight malbec. The curves of these two varietals complement each other nicely (in Rutini wines, at least).
