WTN: 2008 Fire Road Sauvignon Blanc

by ClarkDGigHbr » Sun May 10, 2009 2:06 pm

A few days ago, my wife and I met a co-worker at a new local wine bar, which starts the day as an upscale coffee shop and (Wednesday-Saturday @3PM) turns into a very popular wine bar with food and live entertainment. We each started the evening with a glass of 2008 Fire Road Sauvignon Blanc (from Marlborough, NZ; 12.5% ABV; $10). I did not get lots of aroma from this wine, but I am fighting off a mild sinus infection right now, and it takes LOTS of aroma to make a really good impression with me these days. However, the wine itself is quite flavorful, with medium body and a clean finish of citrus. This wine is not a blockbuster, but it is quite appealing and well priced. Eileen really liked it a lot, so when we saw it at a local wine shop for $10 before discount, we scooped up several bottles.
