WTNs: Salomon Gelber Traminer and Finca La Linda Malbec

An Odd Couple of half bottles from different planets, sharing only alcohol levels:

2006 Salomon Undhof Gelber Traminer Reserve 14.0%
My first example of this varietal. Bottled under a cute glass stopper (is that the so-called Stelvin?). Fragrant and attractive aromas of peach, mineral, almosnds and white flowers. Mature, wears its alcohol well. Good acid/sweet balance before food, slightly lacking in acidity with food, but still lovely.

2007 Bodega Luigi Bosca Finca La Linda Malbec 14.0%
Prunes, vanilla and coffee on the nose. Very hot mouth feel. The pH may be adequate but the acid has never been introduced to the fruit, so the wine tastes oddly flacid and muscular. About the only positive thing I can say about this is that it has less oak than the Reserva. Totally soulless, terroirless, produced by men in white.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.
