WTN: Leitz shining again

2006 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Bischofsberg Riesling Spätlese trocken
13.0% alcohol, under screwcap, about $20 at Table & Vine. Tight on the nose at first but opens up with time to show lemon and green apples mingled with flowers and mineral notes. Dry in the mouth with smoke, lemon and lime over floral elements but more than the flavours the texture and mouthfeel are what really make an impression here, with a sense of real solidity and grip and a stony mineral character that makes this feel as if it was chiselled from rocks. Really well balanced with lots of acidity and a long finish. Really refreshing and food-friendly.

I drank a bottle of this not long ago. Tasty stuff.
