WTN: No. 99 Unoaked Chardonnay 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Mon Jun 08, 2009 9:16 am

Wayne Gretzky Estates
Niagara Peninsula

Medium dark yellow in the glass.

Not much on the nose.

Medium weight, orange, peach, mouthwatering green apple, slightly creamy-viscous, high acidity, a hint of honey, a mild bitter bite, tangy and mouthwatering toward the end.

Mouthwatering with tangy green apple on the finish.

An "acceptable" wine but, strangely enough, I preferred the 2006 version (from a poorer vintage) than this 2007 (which is widely considered to have been a very good year for Ontario wines). Just goes to show that you never know until you try.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).

Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
