2007 Domaine de Belliviere (Eric Nicolas) Rouge-Gorge Coteaux du Loir 13.5%
Our first Belliviere, a domaine best known for its whites. Rouge-Gorge means robin, and this is 100% pineau d'aunis. Lovely aromas of church spices and sour cherry. Good acidity, surprisingly grippy tannins, combining into a dusty but pleasurable astringency before food. Alcohol well integrated, good body, good acid/sweet balance after food. The rich young fruit is very reminiscent of Morgon gamay, which this resembles, except for the tannins. Very fine. This should be wonderful in 3 to 5 years.
