Very dark. Warm, spicy aromas of fragrant wood with some earth beneath that. After 30 minutes, dust and coffee beans. After and hour, mint.
Rich, deep flavor. The oak is so completely integrated it's practically invisible. Seamless. Sweet plums, figs and black olives. Slightly porty which I'm sure might turn off some but I rather like it. A gentle acidity frames the wine and gives it an appetizing dry finish. The tannins started out rather soft but gained in power with exposure to air.
A complex, polished and many-layered wine already outstanding in its youth and will undoubtedly continue to gain in complexity over the next few years. Beautiful wine.
