WTN: Prum with kebabs

by Salil » Fri Aug 07, 2009 12:31 pm

Got takeout from a great north Indian place nearby for dinner; samosas and chicken kebabs to go with the cricket. Along with the food we drank a bottle of 2007 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spatlese.
Decanted four hours in advance of serving; shows a lovely nose of ripe pears, apples and peaches mingled with spring flowers, slate and rose petals with hints of sulfur still lingering beneath. Superb in the mouth with a glossy, polished texture, ripe fruit, floral and mineral flavours blending seamlessly and a sense of real delicacy and lightness. Finishes long and slightly creamy, fantastic.

Well most Prum Rieslings I've had certainly had far more backbone than England showed today...

This is the only 2007 Prum that I bought. Only a hint of sulphur? - sounds promising, and a great note.

If I read this note before I opened a 2004 Donnhoff tonight, I very well may have opened this instead. Either way, it was a win win.
