Not sweet, not tart. Taste best described as somewhat bland, grapish (what else?).

Tending toward sweet but still tangy. Taste is more like a Granny Smith apple at the moment.

Not ripe yet... hey, it's still the first week of August!
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...

I'm just kinda providin' a play-by-play for the folks who don't get to see the grapes.

That's a fun idea. You're certainly well ahead of the vineyards I walked through in Hopland a couple of days ago.

Pretty pictures. I've never tasted Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it occurs to me looking at these. But looking at those bunches I think I'd like them! (It's a shame that wine grapes aren't considered/sold as table grapes. Most are better than the ones that are, IMO!)
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Hi Gary,
Thanks for posting the great picture! Isn’t it great to be able to experience “first-hand” how the grapes ripen and see the changes that occur? Like Steve said its only the first week in August! Being an amateur winemaker on the east coast, who out sources grapes from California, I feel sorry for the distributors of California wine grapes who constantly are called for a “play by play” report of the wine grape’s progress. Unfortunately usually the distributors will not usually lock you in on a price until after Labor Day. So that’s when I start “hounding” them.

Salute

I don't work near the zin, but if I can get the winemaker to give me a ride to the estate I will gladly oblige.
