$13.95 at Vintages. Solid, high-quality natural cork closure. 14.5% alc./vol. 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre.
Deep, nearly opaque garnet with a beet-juice tint. Ethereal red-fruit aromas mingle with toasty whiskey-barrel whiffs. A big mouthful of a wine with bright acidity, cherry-berry flavours on the mid-palate with great, deep oak replays; expansive tannins; alcoholic warmth, and persistent oak spice in the finish. A big wine, albeit very well structured; a bit disjointed, and ageing it for a few years might prove beneficial. It really opened up - and integrated - on the second day after opening. If you plan to drink it young, give it a good aeration first.
This is very good quality at a pleasant price point.
