WTN: Birthday wine

Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 2005
I got this from my daughter so I don't know the cost. There were lots of red fruits on the front end, raspberries and dark cherries. I got a lot of currants too. It had nice tannins and a good finish. It went wonderfully with my NY strip steak, fresh corn, tomatoes, and limas all picked from m parent's garden. I LOVE this time of year! Fresh lima beans are an incomparable gift. All in all, a great meal for my 50th birthday.

Congratulations on a milestone! Not everyone is as lucky as to have their milestones fall during summer harvest! I love lima beans, but hard to find fresh here

Thanks Dale. Fresh limas are difficult to find even at a farmer's market. I have been lucky my father has grown them over the years as I am WAY too lazy. He usually freezes a number of bags and we traditionally have some at Thanksgiving. It's Pinot and Riesling then.... The beans are still heavenly.

Happy 50th birthday.

I love fresh lima beans, as does my (generally picky) wife. We've only been able to pick them a couple of times, but they were soooo good.

It has long been a goal of mine to taste a fresh lima bean--I absolutely adore the frozen version and can barely imagine the heaven that fresh must be. This thread got me searching around for an internet source to no avail, so I've posted a query on Chowhound. Maybe someone there will have a source!

Congratulations on a half century. There are some great 1959 wines out there somewhere with your name on them.
