2000 Carlisle Russian River Valley “Two Acres”. Old-vine Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, Valdepenas and Alicante Bouschet. 150 cases produced.

This was my last of four bottles purchased upon release. Each bottle was better than the last. Stone fruits, black licorice, iron, smoke, roasted meat, tar, blackberries and cherries. The big RRV fruit lasted and only improved over the years. Most likely at or near its best now and a great with grilled Elk, grilled summer vegetables and roasted red potatoes with butter and fresh chives.

That Two Acres sounds really awesome. I like Carlisle a lot (not on the mailing list though) and am a big fan of what Mike Officer's doing with Rhone grapes.
