WTN: Turley Zin Juvenile '00...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:44 pm

Tried this Tues night w/ my tofu cracklins:
1. Turley Calif Zinfandel Juvenile (15.2%) 2000: Dark color w/ slight browning; strong blackberry/Zin slight earthy bit fumey/volatile/alcoholic lush/licorice bit toasty/charred/oak some complex nose; soft/lush/bit underacid strong blackberry/Zin/earthy/licorice bit hot/alcoholic slight tannic flavor; med.long strong blackberry/framboise/boysenberry/Zin slightly tannic/dried out some licorice/earthy/DrPepper finish; starting its downhill slide but still plenty of fruit, in good condition, and a pleasure to drink.

A wee BP:
1. The Turley Zins oftentimes seem to age not so well. So I opened this w/ low expectations. Surprise...it was tasting pretty good w/ plenty of fruit left in it. Though a bit hot/alcoholic, it was pleasurable and just showing a few signs of going round the bend.
Alas, by the next night it was pretty much done & gone, little fruit left, and pretty dried out & tannic.
