WTN: Fielding Estate Chardonnay Musque 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:30 am

Niagara Peninsula

For those who don't know, and I was one who didn't, Chardonnay Musque is a Chardonnay clone with a floral, Muscat-like aroma and taste.

Very light yellow, almost clear, in the glass.

Pine resin on the nose.

Quite rich and thick, very intense marmalde fruit flavours (apricot, orange, lemon), quite sweet, spicy, a light bitter bite, not much in the way of acidity, floral, a hint of lychee, coming close to being a dessert wine.

Vanilla, sweet, almost candied, on the finish.

An extreme wine that people will either love or hate. I think I am somewhere in the middle on this.

Went fairly well with Tandoori-style chicken breasts, Thai vegetables and pasta.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).
