2001 Pertinace Barbaresco Vigneto Marcarini
Wanting something red, a bit structured and old world I opened this cellar orphan. It's red. The balance is all wrong with biting acids, only back end fruit and very bitter tannic structure. Weird stuff that I did not enjoy at all. Sure it only cost me $27.99, but it cost me $27.99!

Hmm, Italian wine, but I think that's Spanish. "Dale" and "Marcarini" are 2 words that generally get me to open a thread, but I don't think that's me, and it's not the Marcarini I care for either!
Not a Pertinace fan, but to be fair 01 Piedmonts can be awkward right now

Google the lyrics for the Macarena & you will understand the joke.

Agree on 2001s from Piemonte, but I don't think that was the problem with this wine. I could be wrong but I will never know as this was my only bottle.
