WTN: Delicious but MEGASTINKY Corbieres

2005 Domaine des 2 Anes Corbieres. Cariagne.

Hooooooo. Talk about horse barn! Big stink here...reflects bottle variation, as the other bottle I had of this wine was not as noticeably bretty? Did blow off somewhat, and I am quite Bret tolerant, usually, so underneath the stink was a quite delicious wine....the kind of wine that makes me look to France. This wine just has soul, even though it is a relatively new producer per the website. But, what a stink!

Definitely herbaceous, earthy character. Rich thought this needed a good grilled flank steak. Some brett/funk on the palate but not nearly as much as on the nose. I enjoyed the garrigue and there was an interesting gritty mouthfeel that I loved. Prominent bitter note, also...like something from an Italian wine. Some tannins were evident, too. I love "rustic" wines like this.

All for $16 purchased at Terroir Wine Bar a few months ago. Despite the stink, I will buy more (and store very, very cold)
