WTN: 2006 Arnoux Bourgogne Pinot Fin

by Oswaldo Costa » Sat Oct 03, 2009 6:03 am

2006 Arnoux Pere et Fils Bourgogne 12.5%
Made from 60 year old vines based on the original pinot fin strain, vinified in the traditional manner, 10% stem retention, pigeage and 35% new oak ageing for 11 months. Red fruit aromas are subdued at first, then open up to become delicate and elegant. Excellent acidity and body, balanced by simple, but tasty fruit. Won't win any organoleptic prizes, but makes the world a better place in the mouth.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.

Well that's relief. I hadn't seen notes from you on this wine, and had been wondering ever since you posted on the vintage switch in your shipment.

My third bottle of 06 was better than last night's, which was the fourth (have two more left).

Meadows liked 07 better than 06 in this wine, so if you haven't picked up any 06s, might be better to wait for the 07s...

I'm barely into the '05. In fact though I will potentially open one tonight if I can get to it in the stack.

Does this wine not shut down? Sounds like a pretty friendly red Burgundy.
