WTN: 2003 Stags Leap Wine Cellars Artemis

Pulled from off site storage. Much more enjoyable than the Hess Collection at a lower initial price!

Shows a more "Old World" sensibility...those who like a ton of sweet fruit in their Cali Cabs (like, I am thinking, many of the posters at Cellar Tracker) would not like this. Very balanced alcohol, no vanilla, chocolate, or caramel notes sticking out. Dark plum fruit with a lovely mouthfeel-quite smooth tannins at this point. Maybe a hint showing that it was good we drank it now...I wouldn't wait. Still, the layers of tobacco and leather and plum make me rate this wine quite high! It was not excessively expensive-I think $30 or so, and we definitely enjoyed it!
