WTN: Crios De Susana Balbo Syrah/Bonarda 2007

Mendoza

A 50-50 blend.

Lightly chilled before supper.

Dark cherry red in the glass.

Spicy and chocolate-covered cherries on the nose.

Smoky, plummy, cranberries, cherry, strawberry, medium weight, chocolate, fresh, rich and bold, drying, a light bitter bite.

Tangy and drying on the finish, with chocolate and light cherry.

A very enjoyable bottle.

Purchased at $12.95 (Canadian) and an excellent value.

I've recently had this producer's Torrontes, from high altitude vines in the northern Argentina Salta region - a bit reminiscent of Viognier, very enjoyable summertime drinking for about $12.
