WTN: 2004 Von Strasser Estate Cabernet

by Brian K Miller » Mon Jul 26, 2010 11:06 am

from the lower slopes of Diamond Mountain, near Calistoga and right next to Reverie's estate.

Plush and lush California Cabernet with beautiful plum and cherry fruit and a core of savoryness that I really liked. Minerality?????? Plenty of acidity despite the "lushness" comment...can a wine have both?

Silky mouthfeel, but still some tannins. Beautiful, beautiful fruit without being over the top in any way. Delicious. Somehow, an entire bottle disappeared between myself and a friend. No wonder the last twenty pounds won't come off!
