I opened this wine with venison chili and was amazed at its quality. As it opened it showed deep sweet cherry and a bit of sour cherry but with a bit of earthyness. The tannins were quite firm but smooth enough to be enjoyable now. If I had more I'd wait a few more years for more complexity to emerge. Not your garden variety Merlot. I have always liked Swanson wines and this only confirms this. For $22 I'll be looking for more.

Swanson was always good. I haven't seen a bottle from them in ages.
