1998 Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Tres Vieilles Vignes
This is just a baby but with some airtime is starting to be very enjoyable. The nose opens up slowly into a big bowl of cherries mixed with flowers. Still muted at this stage. I wish it showed more. The wine is full flavored with a streak of oak that goes all the way to the finish. Not for the oak adverse. I normally would be bothered by the amount of oak but there was so much fruit that I didn’t think the oak got in the way. It just seemed to mix with the fruit and spice. Down the road this could be a really wonderful.

Thanks for the note, Jason.
I've got a bottle of the 02, but have never tried one before.
Best,
Joe

The 02 should be an awesome wine...but I would not touch it for many years.
