What a lovely, lovely earthy, savory, herbaceous adolescent cheap Bordeaux ($19.95). Not a ton of fruit...this is all about the savory side. Great acidity and freshness, with just a hint of green to balance the earth and savory plum and licorice. Delicious.

I had a bottle of the 2001 Lanessan last night with a mushroom risotto and it really sang! Brian, your note on the wine is perfect (i.e. I totally agree); this is what I love about and look for in red Bordeaux. The 2001 Lanessan is drinking beautifully (with about 2 hours decant), but looks, smells, and tastes like it might have a decent future ahead of it because of its lovely balance.

I really like the 2001 vintage in Bordeaux. They seem to be very approachable at a relatively young age and they seem to show nice Bordeaux character.

I remember a couple of years ago my brother and I had did a little Napa Val;ley wine tasting...but for dinner we had a bottle of 2001 Smith Haut Lafite. He told me "this is my kind of wine"

The '01 Potensac (Medoc) was very nice, after a 2 hour decant and a few minutes in the glass. Less than flattering notes on "Cellar Tracker" gave me pause, but the decant and a little time saved the day. Nice wine, wish I had more.

Another fine (but much pricier) 2001:

Chasse Spleen 2001-lovely fruit, delicious fruit, yummy fruit! But still very, very Bordeaux. Yum!
