WTN: pink Loire bubbly, rounded Gewurz

Sunday Betsy's mom was with us, we had some delicious chicken mulligitawny  soup a friend had brought over, with salad and the 2001 Boxler Gewurztraminer (L60). Flowers, lychee/tropical, a pretty good dose of residual sugar. There's some acid to balance the sugar, but I prefer the more austere style of say Trimbach's SdR to this more-ZHy style. Not a great match with food. I think this is last bottle I own from the late CWC. B-

Last night I made catfish with Jenise's quick Creole sauce, while Betsy made rice and Brussels sprouts. Wine was the NV Pinon Rose Brut (Touraine). Dry strawberry flavors, chalk, pepper, flowers. A little cellar time has softened and rounded this. A very gentle petillance. B+/A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
