Ronco Severo, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Schioppettino, 2007
Red-fruited nose of redcurrants, pomegranate along with a bitter floral note. Medium bodied with a bitter, root medicine finish. Leafy, a tad simple, but refreshing, with an acidic cut and a tannic upper lip. 13.5% B+
Jean-Paul Brun (Terres Dorees), Beaujolais blanc, 2010
A purchase that I usually buy locally if I see it. Needed a decent cooking wine and this provided a good foil for veal stew. Apple and pear, some lactic taste and a little more oak than I seem to remember from other years. Good basic French chard. 12% B
