2003 Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Riesling Spatlese: Holy Stromboli what a fantastic wine. The color was a deep straw and the nose and palate of intense peach and a bit of citrus was balanced by bracing ( almost prickly) acidity that was not astringent but a pure joy to taste. This was a gulpable wine and more rightfully consumed by itself out on a deck playing euchre in beautiful Autumn weather. One more bottle and will consume next Spring or Summer under those conditions! abv of 11.5% and another Terry Theise Selection

Walter makes some really nice wines.
As for the Paterberg, it's not exactly hallowed ground (Walter referred to it as dog s**t soil when we visited him in 2003), but it gives good stuff.

The 2001 Strubs were so good and so cheap. Glad to hear the 2003 is good too.
