A fine 2010 August Eser Riesling Spatlese from the Rheingau.

Big German wine tasting downtown on the weekend featuring many wines currently carried by my fave winestore. 60 stand-up participants, $25 Cdn, and I was fortunate to be asked to pour 6 dry whites. One of my favourites was from August Eser, the daughter Desiree is now in charge.

2010 August Eser Oestricher Lenchen Riesling Spatlese Trocken, Rheingau.

12.5% alc, $33 Cdn, classic packaging and was well received by the tasters along with their Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen RST. Mineral, earthy, peach nose. Initial entry thought was off-dry, citrus, apples. Needless to say I did not serve too chilled. Good grip, high acidity but not bracing. Not too sweet at all and I felt I should stash a few away. Hopefully I will get around to posting my thoughts on the other wines I offered :) .

Nice one, Bob. Were the customers queuing up to buy  ? Looking forward the your other posts from the tasting.

Haven't had the Eser wines (they are not generally available round these parts), but I get to drink wines from the Oestricher Lenchen on a regular basis from the Spreitzer brothers.

From the archives.

I am just about ready to open my last Rheingau Eser 2010, hopefully I will find it just as enjoyable as a few yrs back.
Anyone have some wines from here?
