2004 Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (12/27/2014)
Fabulous showing for this wine. It took about 30 minutes to come out of its shell, mostly because it was too cold, but when it did there was a huge amount of cherry and peach fruit, spice and rusty mineral accents. The sweetness is at a much lower level than when it was first released, but it's still a sweet Spätlese. I can heartily endorse drinking this now and over the next year or two, though I doubt it is going anywhere soon.
