Wine Aging Experiment Redux?

by David M. Bueker » Mon Jan 12, 2015 4:20 pm

Anyone interested in taking part in the extended wine aging experiment again? Last time I took 3 bottles each of three wines, and stored them in different conditions for 2 years (wine cellar, basement and upstairs non air conditioned closet). I remember that Dale participated as well with (I think) 2 bottles each of 2 wines. The eventual tastings of the wines were interesting, and I have wanted to repeat the experiment at some point.

Anyone up to join me?

Not really, sorry David.

If those three wines are closed with cork then I reckon if you stored them in the same place then opened them simultanously in 2 years you're likely to find a variation between them that would be explained as due to the location if stored in different places.

But Peter, I included (and will do so again), screw cap closed wines as well!

I'd be interested, given that I could compare good passive storage and bad passive storage but don't have a temp-controlled cellar, and assuming that I can get the wine(s) in question or at least some of them.

In other words, I'd definitely like to watch, and participate as much as I can. 8)

No need for everyone to do the same wine. In fact it might be even more interesting if I put aside some mid-tier stuff, and others can try whatever price bracket works for them.
