Quick and intuitive, off the top of my head. Tomorrow's answers might be completely different.

Your favorite wine maker is…
Tons of them! Based on having met the wine maker as opposed to merely loving his wines, though, and not counting Howie Hart  ... I think a three-way tie between Jim Clendenen, Patrick Campbell and the forum’s own Steve Edmunds!

Your least favorite wine maker is…
I’m going to go with Michel Rolland here.

Your favorite historical wine figure is…
Whoa, that’s tough. I think I’ll go with Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. He might have been wrong to banish Gamay entirely, but his vision guided Bourgogne on the road to greatness.

Your least favorite historical wine figure is…
I’ve got to say Marvin Shanken. Lacking RMP’s saving graces, he introduced a generation of Americans to a view of wine that taught them brand and price snobbery is the way to go.

The event in wine history you consider most important is…
The evolution of the glass wine bottle, making long-term storage and transportation of quality wines commercially viable.

Your favorite wine maker is…
Joel Patterson because he is known as he “Godfather of Zin”

Your least favorite wine maker is…
Don’t have one.

Your favorite historical wine figure is…
Charles V. Riley, (one of the) saviour of the European vine.

Your least favorite historical wine figure is…
Temperance movement in the US

The event in wine history you consider most important is
The first prehistoric person to dabble a finger in fermented grape juice and taste it.

Judging by numbers in my cellar, my favourite estate is Fèlsina but I know no names there. As an individual I choose Jean-Paul Jamet

Your least favorite wine maker is…

Arnaud de Pontac, 17th century owner of Château Haut-Brion, who developed modern claret as a wine capable of improving with age under cork in bottles

The event in wine history you consider most important is…

Well Michel Rolland is sure taking his lumps.

Victor - Joel Peterson? Ravenswood? Doesn't hurt that he's also Morgan Twain Peterson's father, and Morgan is doing great things with Bedrock.

Your favorite wine maker is… Do not currently consider anyone a favorite, though I like and respect many. The most influential was Madame Nicolai of Chandon de Briailles in Burgundy, though were she alive she would not even remember my visit. She just said things that forever altered my thinking.

Your least favorite wine maker is… Anyone who makes 15%+ wines and is proud of it, i.e. Tobin James.

Your favorite historical wine figure is… No opinion

The event in wine history you consider most important is… Outside of my own personal epiphanies, another category to which I have given no thought whatsoever.

Any reason the US Senate irritates more than the US House and the state legislatures? (whose concurrence was required for the amendment to be proposed and ratified, respectively). As an aside, I was surprised to learn that 46 of the then 48 states actually ratified the 18th amendment--though only 36 states needed to ratify it for it to become part of the US Constitution (Connecticut and Rhode Island rejected it, according to Wikipedia). I wonder if any other constitutional amendment saw such near-unanimity in its ratification . . .

Your favorite wine maker is… Heidi Shrock who called me from Austria to answer my email inquiry regarding food pairing for one of her wines. She was concerned that an email response would not have been timely enough to prevent a “food match catastrophe.”

Your least favorite wine maker is…The guy at a winery which I will not name in Santa Barbara who told me I shouldn’t have bothered tasting his overpriced “select” Pinot because I wasn’t sophisticated enough to appreciate it.

Your favorite historical wine figure is… Bacchus!

Your least favorite historical wine figure is…Bartles and Jaymes for inventing the wine cooler.

The event in wine history you consider most important is… When I told a German that all wine tasted the same while on a business trip in the Mosel region. I pissed him off enough that he gave me a couple bottles of Riesling to take home, thus beginning this bad habit... er... hobby.
