2005 Domaine Jean-Marc / Thomas Bouley Volnay Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay (5/28/2015)
Served blind, this was immediately appealing, with subtle red fruit, lots of forest floor, leather and earthy tones and a gentle, caressing mouth feel. This was a real pleasure to just smell, taking in the complexity of aromas, and yet managed to live up to it on the palate. Turns out this was slow-oxed for 24 hours, which certainly contributed to it being so open.
