Moving wine

And I mean this in the physical sense.... Not a wine that moved you recently.

Given my move to Chicago, I may be faced with the prospect of moving wine from CT to Chicago. Maybe 1000 bottles or so, most of which are not in cases.

Has anyone done this before? Are there sepxialiEd companies that do this and maintain proper conditions etc?

You should also check whether Illinois has any regulatory requirements for transporting wine into the state as part of a move. There might be some paperwork that needs to be filed.

Check by a friendly liquor store for the rest of the empty cases you need. Ship them upside down. We have never moved 1000, but have moved a couple of hundred.

Most of the wine storage companies can arrange this- boxing and transport, but won't be cheap. I know Horse Ridge (I think?) in CT has good rep. If you are in western CT River Valley in NY is toprate.
