Bringing in the Grenache!

by Peter May » Wed Feb 17, 2016 10:01 am

I posted yesterday on Bob Parson's Open Mike on Grenache, and today by co-incidence I saw Grenache arriving at a winery I was visiting. So this pic is for Bob

But Wait!! - That's not all!!

See what's in the background?

It's this chappy who is one of Waterkloof winery's string of Percheron horses bringing in the Grenache from the harvesters.

They grow very little Grenache, much too little to make a varietal and it'll be blended or co-fermented with Mourvedre. They say that to make an expressive Grenache the vines need to be very much older than theirs are.

And here am I, helping to support a trellis post.
