2002 - Beringer - Napa Valley Chardonnay - Private Reserve
Proprietor Grown - 14.5% alc.

Ed Spragia produced this concentrated Napa Chard. I've never purchased a $30+ bottle of chardonnay before so I was hoping to NOT be disappointed. This stuff is probably what typifies a BIG Cal.Chard. - fruity/oaky nose, definitely oaky palate balanced with great chardonnay fruit and acidity!

Although it was very well made I think I've had equally good ones but without the big pricetag. TTFN

I really respect Ed Sbragia and Beringer wines in general. I had an '85 cab sauv (I think it was an '85) some years ago and was blown away. But I have to agree with you on the Chardonnay; Napa Chard just doesn't do it for me. I find them too fruity, oaky, vanilla-y, etc. And I have found some American chards that work for me for much less $$.

I tried the Beringer Alluvium White many years ago, and found it to be awful. Oak, oak, and more oak. I enjoyed their Alluvium Red, however. In general, I have avoided buying Beringer wines for many years.
