2002 Domaine des Baumard Savennières Clos du Papillon - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières (7/9/2016)I was initially thrilled because the wine was bright and fresh but that thrill quickly turned to complete boredom. The wine had no spark, nothing to lift it from just a glass of Chenin Blanc. There was some nice quince and pear fruit, as well as a little bit of wooliness, but that was it. I nearly fell asleep while drinking it.

Very interesting, I would have thought this would be singing now, as it's a great vintage. But I'm a huge fan of this wine (when it isn't oxidized).
