Lava Cap 2012 Battonage Chardonnay from El Dorado Co. Cal, my last bottle and easily the best. This Chardonnay is even better than their Reserve. The nose shouts lemon and the palate follows with full lemon essence and great acidity and viscosity. Color is light/medium straw with a slight green sheen. I wonder what this wine might evolve into with 8-10 years on it. Easily as outstanding as Beringer Reserve but about half the price. I want a case or more of this wine. abv of 14.6% Consumed with simple grilled chicken thighs with rosemary stuffed under the skins and potato salad. Nice match. Living large!!
