Tonight I opened a recently purchased bottle of 2014 Cantina Terlan Muller-Thurgau. I have generally loved all of their gewurztraminers as full-bodied renditions of the varietal but this was a different sort of animal from what I expected. I have not had a Muller-Thurgau in probably 30 years and now I am reminded why! My previous experiences were of German wines but this bottle from the Alto Adige of Northern Italy was not just dull (that would have been a good thing) but extremely grassy with lots of herbal notes and some of cat pee. I am not a fan of even well-made Sauvignon Blancs so this wine was very disappointing. abv of 13% and $20.00, a further insult. Live and learn! Glad I bought just one bottle.
