This was a wow wine. But also very unusual. The nose is BIG gewürztraminer-flowery, rich, almost blowsy. On the palate, though, this was a lively wine, quite elegant and delicious. I keep using this word to describe wines I like, but I will throw it out here again: Savory.

Compares very favorably to the delicious Cathy Corison Helios Gewürztraminer that I have enjoyed over the years.

Yup, Brian.....Matt's GWT is a kind of its own. It's made w/ skin-contact which is where the savory character comes from. But the
GWT character is so powerful that the skin-contact phenolic/resiny character plays 2'nd fiddle.

But G is to me like Viognier-a grape I am also not often very fond of!

Both GWT and Viognier can often be a bit overwhelming in their aromatics...too much of a good thing.

Almost like Concord or Muscat...the intense aromatics keep anything else from showing thru.
