A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This was a very strange example of an SGN CdL. When opened, the cork was very moist and pulverized into a million pieces. The advanced condition of this wine may have been because of a failed cork. The color was suspiciously brown. It was loaded w/ botrytis and the trace of oxidation made it drink more like a PX-Lite than anything. It didn't have the bracing acidity you usually find in an SGN from CdL. It was not a "bad" wine and went well w/ the bread pudding, but seemed rather atypical of what I expected. It reminded me a lot of a 20-30 yr old Calif botrytis Riesling because of the low acidity and the distinctly browning color.
