Light yellow in color. Citrus, mineral nose, not too fruity. "Alvarinho" from across the table?
Initial entry thought is dry, good fruit balance, excellent mid-palate."Unripe white stone fruit". Crisp but not to zippy though. Good acidity on a lengthy finish, showed some nutty tones after 2 hrs.
Day 2 hint of some creamyness.
2012 Basile Cartacanta Montecucco Sangiovese, Tuscany.
14% alc, $25 Cdn, good cork, Lot 0112. Not decanted, www.basilessa.it. 10% Merlot.
Not often one comes across this appellation. Very nice ruby-red, medium intensity. Nose quite closed at first but then herbal, cherry, savory, hint of oak.
Initial entry thought is dry, soft tannins, not that ripe. Medium-bodied with herbs and pepper, after an hour smooth bite on the finish. This wine really evolves eh. Not sure what to compare it with Chianti-wise?
Day 2.....some juicy acidity on the finish, still not much on the nose. Seems more open on the palate and tad more integrated.
