2015 Weingut Clemens Busch Pündericher Marienburg Riesling Großes Gewächs - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/17/2017)
It's always interesting to see what is going on with dry wines from the Mosel. Clemens Busch is (and has been) a leader in this area, and the 2015 Marienburg GG continues that leadership. This is a different style than some of the mope opulent GG wines from the Nahe and Rheinhessen, with a clear, sharp focus, and bright minerality. There's some lemony and green apple fruit, but the wine is much more about its rocky backbone. It's a throwback to a time prior to the rampant ripeness that has gripped Germany and especially Alsace.
