A Delicato property a Success? (Black Stallion)

While playing hooky yesterday, I made a random left turn at the southern end of Silverado Trail into the rather massive BLACK STALLION complex. Now owned by Delicato, this winery was built on a former race horsing facility in 2007.

Fancy place in the touristy-rustic-Napa theme. Nice guy pouring the wines, which were actually pretty darn good in a very California style.

The 2015 Napa Valley Syrah tasted like Syrah.  There was a lovely lithe fruit core here with some polish and savory/herbal syrah-ness that was an eye opener to me.

Similarly, the 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet (their "entry" cab wine) was fresh and darn nice as well. Not over-extracted, not a fruit bomb. Light on its feet with some elegance and touch of herbal notes that brought it up a level.

A very nice stop, and no snobbery either! Although the people next to me were too typical privileged old white people (POWPs) who were whining petulantly about something or other.
