2008 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (4/27/2017)
I thought I was all out of this wine, but a little bit of cellar reorganization turned up one more. Where the wine still seemed quite primary a year ago, it was finally showing a bit of development tonight. There was still a major dose of primary fruit, but it was accompanied by the beginnings of a leafy, earthy character that elevated the wine to another level of complexity. There was also a touch of smokiness, but only enough to make it more interesting, not enough to be a focus point. The acids and tannins were in good balance with the fruit, so no worries about further aging. This was the wine that got me into trying the Anthill Farms Pinot Noirs, and it's still the best I have had.
