2009 Selbach-Oster Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (4/28/2017)
Popped and poured to serve with spicy Thai drunken noodles, and this hit the spot. Still very youthfully fruity and exuberant, there was more than enough richness and depth to handle the spice, and plenty of nuance to provide more intellectual stimulation. Ripe apple and peach fruit mixed were held together by solid, balanced acidity. The overall impression was of a wine that was open for drinking, but not remotely close to even early maturity. It was still holding plenty of baby fat. The most interesting part of the wine for me was the finish, which showed more mineral depth, and a bright juiciness that led from one sip to the next. Looking for development? Wait 5+ years. Looking for freshness and fun? Open one tonight!
