WTN: 2013 Pheasant's Tears Chinuri

by Dan Smothergill » Mon May 01, 2017 4:53 am

A Georgian white wine from the Kartli region fermented and made in qveri. The word chinuri means "pleasing to the eye", a reference to the greenish yellow berries. Amber colored and unfiltered, the wine is delicate and crisp with an overall taste of honey. Very nice wine that I would buy again. 12% alc. $17. Edit: The original title had the vintage as 2103.

Hmmmm, Dan....I assume you mean 2013 here??

The Pheasant's Tears I've had have shown that same honeyed character you mention. And typically
what I call a phenolic character, some like the rosin you use on a violin bow. As these skin-contact whites age,
they seem to take on more of a honeyed/honeycomb character.
