WTN: great Cal. Chardonnay

by Jim Grow » Thu May 04, 2017 8:39 pm

2012 Sbragia Home Ranch Sonoma Co. Chardonnay; This was a wonderful young Sonoma Co. Chardonnay from an accomplished winemaker at Beringer, now producing wine from his own estate. Pale straw color, the nose and palate are both outstanding with very spicey pear and lots of citrus too. The finish had a touch of herb also. The acidity was abundant but not tart and the balance was so fine I could see this bottling age for another 10 years easily. abv of 14.7% my only bottle however!

Spicy pear...sounds like he brought along the barrels from Beringer!

agree re Ed's Chards, he also makes 2 very nice Sauv Blancs, one from Home Ranch and the other sourced from Gamble Vyd fruit.
