WTN: Several species of small Feray animals...

2015 Pierre Gonon Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Les Iles Feray - France, Rhône, Ardèche, Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche (5/4/2017)
Served blind, this was a real shocker. It showed a degree of elegance above and beyond anything I had experienced with prior vintages of the wine. There was also a definite spice element (cinnamon sprang to mind) that made it seem like something from Vosne! Crazy stuff that had plenty of depth for a wine twice its price.

Iles Feray may be tough (darned near impossible) to source, but it's worth the effort. Every vintage I have had showed well every time I opened one. The 2015 just continues that string.

The 2009 and 2012 Iles Feray were also served in the same tasting, and both showed very, very well.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like the perfect wine for the next time I'm in a cave grooving with a Pict.

Me too. Luckily I have a couple of local friends who were quicker.

I bought a bottle at CSW when we were in Manhattan last month. This was just about the best 25 dollar red wine I've ever had.

Come now. I'm sure you had better $25 red wines 15-20 years ago!

You know, even adjusting for the price increases, I'm sure the wines I liked 15 years ago and that cost 25 dollars were not as good as the Gonon.
